どこかのレビューでバンシーズはギタリストに恵まれなかったと書かれていて、反面さまざま有能なギタリストが行き来したことがバンシーズらしさとなった、あるいはバンシーズらしさを醸し出してきたとあり、言い得て妙だと思ったものです。
Juju における John McGeoch がその到達点を定め（そして倒れて消え去り）、後進者はエピゴーネンと化してしまったのは一見皮肉でもありそうですけれど、この Tinderbox （1986年リリース）で John Valentine Carruthers がそのサウンドをさらにカラフルに仕上げ、私個人としてはバンドのピークはここだったと思います。
なにしろ捨て曲がなく、思ったほど今聴いても古くなく、ときより聴き直してしまう１枚。
